This traditional bengali specialty is one of my favourite recipes and i recommend that you give this one a try. This recipe proves that poppy seeds and potatoes are a match made in heaven!
Place the poppy seeds on a microwave-proof plate, cover with a lid and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Coarsely grind in a mixer and keep aside.
Combine the potatoes with 1 teaspoon of the oil in another microwave-proof plate and microwave on high for 8 minutes, mixing twice in between. Keep aside.
Combine the remaining oil, dry red chillies, turmeric powder and ground poppy seeds in a microwave-proof bowl, mix well and microwave on high for ½ minute.
Add the potatoes and salt, mix well and microwave on high for 1 minute.
