Absolutely chocolate-y, adorable cupcakes for any occasion- Halloween’s my favourite.
Ingredients
For the cupcakes

½of flour
½ tea spoon of baking soda
1
table spoon of baking powder
1
cup
of unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ tea spoon of salt
4
table spoons of butter
softened
2
cups
of sugar
2
eggs
1
tea spoon of vanilla extract
1
cup
of milk
For the Frosting
2
cups
semi-sweet chocolate chips
1
lb
butter
2 cups
For the Owls
Oreos – Split – Keep the side that has the frosting
Reese’s Pieces – Brown and Yellow Pieces
Instructions
For the Cupcakes
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. Line the muffin pan with foil liners.
Sift the flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder and cocoa into a large mixing bowl.
Set this mixture aside.
In another bowl, mix softened butter and sugar well until they get light and fluffy.
Add the eggs to the mixture one by one, and keep beating with each addition.
Add the vanilla extract to the bowl and stir well.
Add the flour mixture and the milk alternately to the bowl and beat well.
Put two table spoons of the mixture in the muffin cups until they get 2/3 full.
Bake cupcakes for 15 to 20 minutes in the oven or till a toothpick inserted into a cupcake comes out clean.
Leave cupcakes aside to cool.
For the Frosting
In medium saucepan, melt chocolate chips and butter over medium low heat, whisking frequently.
When melted, cool completely and chill until solid.
Remove from fridge and allow to come up to room temperature.
Put all the chocolate in a mixing bowl and beat on medium for 2 minutes until light in color and fluffy.
For the Owls
Frost the cupcakes using a knife- for texture.
Place 2 oreo sides on each cupcake — make sure the oreos are not touching
Frost one side of 2 brown reese’s pieces and place on each oreo
Place one yellow piece in the middle of the cupcake to be the owl’s beak
Recipe Notes
Add a drop of brown food colouring to the frosting if you’d like a nice dark brown owl.
