Ingredients
2
bitter gourds
chopped and washed
1
Large tamarind ball
2
tbsp
jaggery
pinch
Aof Turmeric Powder
salt to taste
For seasoning
2
tsp
Oil
1
tsp
Mustard seeds
1
tsp
chana dal
pinch
aof Hing
a few curry leaves
For grinding

tsp
urad dal

Red chilies

tbsp
Sesame seeds
Instructions
Soak the tamarind ball in warm water for ten minutes.
Reserve the tamarind water and discard the pulp.
Dry roast the sesame seeds.
Heat one tablespoon of oil and fry the urad dal and chilies.
Allow the sesame seeds, urad dal and chillies to cool and then grind them together.
Fry the mustard seeds in the remaining oil.
Add the chana dal, hing and curry leaves.
Sauté for half a minute.
Add the bitter gourd, turmeric powder and salt and stir.
Pour in the tamarind juice along with half a cup of water.
Stir in the jaggery.
Let the mixture boil for a few minutes.
Add the ground urad dal, chilies and sesame seeds and stir.
The pachadi is ready to serve!
