Instructions
Take water in a big vessel and mix oil to it.
Bring to a boil and then turn off the flame.
In a mixing bowl mix the flour and salt together.
Add about three quarters of the hot water to the mix and stir well.
Keep adding water and stirring till you get a dough-like consistency.
Now knead the dough with hands for about a minute or so and then put it into the iddiyappam press.
After running through the press, put the long strings into the steamer and steam for about 5 minutes.
Once the iddiyappam is cooked through, enjoy it with chutney or stew.
