Ingredients

vegetable oil

onions
cut into 1/4 inch slices

honey

ketchup

hot sauce

kosher salt

freshly cracked black pepper

kosher hot dogs
boiled or char grilled

hot dog buns
spicy brown mustard
as needed
cooked sauerkraut
as needed
Instructions
Heat oil on medium flame in a medium-sized saucepan.
Saute onions in the oil till soft.
Add honey, cinnamon, chilli powder and stir.
After cooking for about a minute, add ketchup, water, hot sauce, salt and black pepper.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes till the sauce gets a thick consistency.
Remove from heat and cool down the sauce in a bowl.
This sauce can be stored for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
Put the hot dogs into the bun.
Add mustard to the bottom half of each bun.
Top the hot dog with the onion sauce and sauerkraut or either of the two according to preference.
