tbsp
½oil
1
tsp
Salt
cup
¾water
1
tbsp
ghee
Instructions
To knead the dough
Sieve the flour and salt into a bowl
Add ½ tbsp oil
Add the water
Using your hands, mix all the ingredients together
Knead for five minutes or until the dough becomes soft and smooth
Shape balls the size of large lemons out of the dough
On a rolling board flatten the ball into a circle and sprinkle a little flour on top of it
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough into a thin circle
Cooking the roti
Once the dough is rolled out, spread water evenly over the rolled dough
Place the roti (rolled dough) on a hot tava
As the roti cooks, you will see the dough begin to rise in bubbles
Allow the roti to cook for a minute on a medium flame
Hold the tava upside down (the roti will stick to it) over a low flame, allowing the other side of the roti to cook.
Rotate the tava so all sides of the roti are cooked evenly
Remove the roti from the tava using a flat spatula
Spread a little ghee on the roti
Serve hot!
