Fill Yourself With Yummy Sweets & Savouries At Bengali Sweet Centre, Delhi
The place we’re talking about today is the hub of delicious mithais, snacks, and multi-cuisine food. And anyone who’s so much as ventured near South Extension Part 1 would have dined at the Bengali Sweet Centre. If you haven’t, you’re doing life majorly wrong!
The legendary sweet shop is located in one of New Delhi’s most popular and thriving markets. Generations swear by the thalis, cutlets, kulfi falooda, and sweets whipped up at BSC. And despite getting competition from a number of newbies popping up around the restaurant-cum-sweet shop, which is spread over a spacious and squeaky clean area of two storeys, continues to be abuzz with people waiting to grab a seat and dish out some delicious grubs.
The menu is one long list of North Indian, South Indian, Continental (that’s right, y’all!), and Fast Food items along with delicious shakes, mocktails, and hot and cold beverages to wash down all the splendid food. In addition to the sweet shop and restaurant inside, the place boasts of a full-fledged live chaat counter outside that serves up Delhi’s most iconic street foods like paani puri, aloo tikki, aloo chaat, pav bhaji, jalebi, and the likes. Making our way through all that awesomeness, here’s all that we binged on!
What We Had:
Paneer Cutlet
The soft and delectable paneer cutlet was a delight! Stuffed with dry fruits in the middle, the dish came with a side of tangy coriander chutney that we almost smuggled home.
Veg Thali
The bigger your thali, the higher you score on the ‘awesome’ scale. But seriousl, the Bengali Sweet Centre thali is one gorgeous treat for veg food and Indian food lovers. The platter came packed with a number of vegetables – dry and gravy – along with rice, papad, puri, pickles, and a bowl of kheer.
Veg Hakka Noodles & Manchurian
It does not get more desi than stuffing your face with some delicious Chinese food at a sweet shop. Like straight, are you even Indian if you haven’t tried those shiny bright hakka noodles and gobi (cauliflower) Manchurian? Although, the we had at BSC was an even yummier mixed vegetable Manchurian doused in a deliciously thick and spicy gravy. Yum!
Pani Puri (a.k.a. Gol Gappa)
Just how do you expect us to go to Begali Sweet Centre and not indulge in a portion of the tangy pani puris? With extra sookhi puri, of course! Must. Go. Back. Again. Soon.
Take a look at our rendezvous with the famous sweet shop!
