A Grandmother had her own YouTube channel where she cooked the cheapest meals ever

on

The Great Depression of the late 1920’s that lasted till the 1930’s was a terrible time for anyone who lived during those years. Unemployment, poverty and famine were just some of the problems of the world then. People who survived have countless stories to tell. Stories of hardship, despair and most of all, hope. Clara Cannucciari’s mother was just one of the hopeful stories. She was about 15 when the Depression hit America. And her mother took it upon herself to find inventive ways to stretch the family’s meals and they emerged from the Depression safe and healthy.

In 2007, her grandson Christopher Cannucciari began filming Clara, who was 91 then, preparing her mother’s Depression meals and assembled the footage into the YouTube series Great Depression Cooking with Clara

This is one of her videos where she demonstrates how to cook what she calls The Poor Man’s Meal.

Sadly, Clara passed away on November 29, 2013. She was 98. The last video her grandson uploaded on her channel was one where she showed us how to cook Twice baked potato.
