New York City – Stuff Your Face, Literally.

New York City is the hub to all sorts of food – weird combinations and all. Just when we thought things couldn’t get crazier, they proved us wrong. Soup dumplings the size of your face is the new thing that has got all New Yorkers in a frenzy. Yes, you read that right. And they’re selling out faster than they can be made!

Qihui Guan and her son, Yuan Lee, are the team behind the East Village’s brand-new Drunken Dumpling –  XL-sized Xiao Long Bao (or “XL XLBs”), aka giant soup dumplings. These dumpligs appear to be six times the size of traditional soup dumplings, and are filled with homemade chicken broth, shrimp, and seaweed. They are served in a steam basket, which they nearly fill!

And here’s the best part, they’re served with a straw. Seems strange, doesn’t it? But the straw may seem necessary because there’s literally no other way to consume them other than to puncture the top with a straw and sip the soup through it. Unless you’re willing to challenge yourself and stuff the entire thing in your mouth! Looks like attacking this giant dough monster is going to require team effort. If you’re in the City soon, you may want to take ALL your friends and go!
