Ingredients
- 20 gms split black gram (urad dal) Raw
- ½ medium onions chopped
- ½ medium tomatoes chopped
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
- A pinch Asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp Ginger Chopped
- 1 green chillies
- ¼ tsp red chilli powder
- fresh coriander leaves
- Lemon juice Few drops
- Salt To Taste
- 1/2 tsp Oil

Instructions
- Step 1 Soak urad dal in water for 10-15 mins.
- Step 2 Drain and cook urad dal with salt, turmeric powder and 1 cup water till just done.
- Step 3 Take care that the dal does not get overcooked and each grain remains separate.
- Step 4 Heat oil in a non stick pan. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger and onions and saute till fragrant. Chop green chillies and add along with red chilli powder, tomatoes and saute.
- Step 5 Drain dal and add and mix gently. Adjust salt and mix.
- Step 6 Chop coriander leaves and add and mix well. You can add lemon juice if you wish. Serve hot.
