- Set your oven to 425°F before you start prepping, so that it’s ready.
- Wash your potatoes, make sure to scrub them clean. You can remove the eyes if you wish, but definitely get rid of the blemishes
- Rub the potatoes with olive oil, making sure that you cover each potato thoroughly. Either use your hands or a pastry brush.
- Generously sprinkle the potatoes with salt and pepper on all sides.
- Using the fork, prick holes in the potatoes in a few places. The purpose of this is to allow steam to escape from the baking potato.
- When baking you can either put them directly on the rack or if you can put them on a foil lined baking sheet on a baking tray. Bake them for about 60 minutes, but remember to flip them over every 20 minutes so that it bakes through.
- You can check to see if they’re done by piercing them with a fork.

If the skin is dry and the inside is soft, then your potatoes are done! And then you can top them with almost anything you desire.
