Lauki Paratha Recipe
It’s not a legit paratha until it’s stuffed or fortified with the goodness of a vegetable and oodles of ghee. Of course, there is the classic paratha but the stuffed one is a meal in itself and that is any day the yummier option.
Bottle gourds a.k.a. lauki is loaded with a number of health benefits. Apart from being rich in nutrients like Vitamins A and C, the vegetable is excellent for digestion, keeping blood pressure in check, hydrating the body and keeping it cool. And god knows we could do with the latter during summers.
A mix of the two, that is, lauki paratha strikes a delicious balance between healthy and yummy. So get your dough out and follow this recipe to roll out delicious lauki parathas.

Ingredients
- 1 cups atta whole wheat flour
- 1 cup ½grated lauki bottle gourd
- tsp ¼garam masala powder
- pinch Aof red chili powder or as required
- salt to taste
- Ghee as required
- water as required
- 1 tsp ½oil

Instructions
- Mix the atta, lauki, garam masala powder, red chili powder and salt.
- Knead the mix into dough. You may not need water for this as the lauki releases moisture. But if required you can sprinkle some water to bind the dough. Add oil and roll up the dough into a ball.
- Set aside for half an hour.
- Divide the dough into about equal sized balls.
- Sprinkle some dry atta on a flat surface, and using a rolling pin roll out the dough balls into parathas. Keep in mind that parathas are slightly thicker than chapattis.
- Heat a tawa or griddle.
- Smear some ghee on the tawa and keep the paratha on it. Flip over when small bubble-like spots appear on the surface.
- Apply oil on the other surface as well and toast till there are brown spots on the top of paratha.
- Serve hot with curd or chutney.
