Christmas cocktails can be pretty exciting to make (and to drink)! This Merry Manhattan recipe, courtesy of Foodess, has a festive twist thanks to the addition of homemade spiced simple syrup!

Ingredients
Merry Manhattan
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 1 ounce dry vermouth
- 2 dashes angostura bitters
- 1/2 ounce spiced simple syrup
Spiced Simple Syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup Water
- 2 inch piece of ginger peeled and cut
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 Star Anise
- 4 cardamon pods

Instructions
Cocktail
- Combine all cocktail ingredients in a shaker with a handful of ice; shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosty. Pour into short (Old Fashioned) glass.
Spiced Simple Syrup
- Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat; cook until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Allow spices to steep for at least an hour. Strain into a glass jar; cover and store leftover syrup in the fridge.
