What if instead of using the potato as an accompaniment to your main dish, you turn the potatoes into the main dish, make it the star of its own show. This recipe is all about that with thinly sliced potatoes baked in a creamy cheddar cheese sauce and served with some extra cheese on top. Instructions
For the sauce
Place a small saucepan on medium heat
Add butter and let it melt
Add the flour and whisk till it forms a roux

Add in the salt and cayenne pepper
Cook the sauce on low heat until smooth
Reduce the heat and add the cheese
Layering
Place half of the sliced potatoes in a greased dish
Pour about half of the cheese sauce on top of the potatoes
Place the rest of the potatoes on top
Repeat the process with the cheese sauce
Sprinkle the grated cheese and paprika on top
Bake the dish for 45 minutes at 180C
