7 Indian Milk Sweets that are Dreamy
India is a land of sweets. There is no questioning about it. There are hundreds of varieties of sweets, each specific to its state of origin. Every Indian meal comprises of at least one, if not many sweets. If you have a sweet-tooth like me, I’m sure that milk sweets have a special place in your heart. There’s a comforting nature, almost mother-like, to milk sweets that makes you happy every time you eat some. In this article, I’m going to list some of my favourite milk sweet recipes that will give you happy dreams.
1. Coconut Barfi
This is a popular Indian dessert that almost takes no effort to make. It is a crowd favourite and is specially made during the festive season. This sweet, creamy dessert is what dreams are made of!

2. Kesar Peda
This saffron flavoured milk sweet is very rich in taste. This recipe uses milk powder which reduces the making effort up to 50%! Easy to make and super yummy!

3. Rabri
Rabri is a tradition North Indian milk dessert that is enjoyed by people of all ages. It is reduced milk infused with cardamom powder. Rabri is generally used to top desserts like jalebi and malpua. It is a time consuming process if you want to make it the old fashioned way but the result is definitely worth the wait! Rabri tastes best when chilled.

4. Paal Payasam
Every South Indian meal comprises of this delicious dessert. It is made with rice or vermicelli simmered in cardamom flavoured milk. The Keralites include it in their Ona Sadhya. You can add a whole lot of nuts to it if you like. Hands down, this is the best dessert created by man.

5. Ras Malai
It is a Bengali dessert loved by all. It is a close cousin of the famous Rasagulla. These are soft paneer dumplings soaked in creamy sweetened milk. Once in a while, a trip to Guilt Island is allowed, right?

6. Phirni
This classic milk dessert dates backs to centuries. The fragrant rose essence adds a Mughal touch to the dish. Phirni has many versions and each household has its version of it, handed down from the previous generation.

7. Shahi Tukda
Shahi Tukda is a famous Hyderabadi dessert dating back to the time of the Nizams. Fried bread pieces soaked in rabri or sweetened-cardamom flavoured milk, this classic dessert is so close to my heart.
