- 2 tsp Oil
- Mustard seeds
- pinch Aos asafetida
- 1 green chili
- 1 ” ginger piece
- 8-10 Curry Leaves

Instructions
- Peel, chop and rinse the senai well.
- Soak tamarind in a cup of hot water for 15 minutes. Extract its juice and discard the pulp.
- Pressure cook tur dal and senai separately for 3 whistles.
- Mash tur dal well.
- Mash senai also.
- Heat oil in a wok, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add asafetida, green chilies, ginger and curry leaves.
- Sauté for 2-3 seconds, then add cooked tur dal and mashed senai.
- Add tamarind water, salt and cook on medium flame stirring in between for 5-6 minutes or until it thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat.
- Serve as a side dish for rasam or sambar or curd rice.
