Akkara Adisal Recipe
Instructions
- In a pan, melt jiggery with a little water.
- Filter the impurities and boil for two minutes.
- Soak saffron in 2 tablespoons of warm milk.
- Soak rice in 1/2 cup water for 10 minutes.
- Add 1 & 1/2 cup of milk to the rice and cook in a pressure cooker for 7 to 8 whistles. Then cook under low flame for 10 minutes.
- Mash the rice to a paste with a ladle.
- Add the saffron milk and melted jaggery to the rice and mix well.
- Fry the cashews in ghee and add this to the rice as well.
- When the rice mix cools, add 1/4 of cooled milk and mix.
Recipe Notes
You can add a pinch of cardamom powder for flavour.
