Mutton Sukke Recipe
Mutton Sukke is a popular Koli preparation of mutton in Maharashtra. The Kolis are a coastal community in Maharashtra that are known for their love of seafood. However, their meat dishes are equally delicious and quite spicy!
Serve mutton sukke as a main dish with curd rice or biryani for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients
- 1/2 kg Mutton chopped
- 2 onions chopped
- 3 Green chilies chopped
- 5 Dried Red Chilies
- 2 Cloves
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 tsp Ginger grated
- 4 cloves garlic chopped/
- 1 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 cup Coconut grated
- 6 Shallots
- 5-6 Curry Leaves
- 1/2 cup coriander leaves
- salt as required

Instructions
- Combine the mutton with the turmeric, ginger garlic paste, salt and curry leaves.
- Pressure cook this mixture until the mutton is tender (2 whistles).
- Sauté the shallots and three of the dried chilies in a little oil.
- Add the coconut and continue sautéing the mixture over a low flame until the coconut browns.
- Allow this mixture to cool and then grind it together.
- In the same pan, heat a little oil and sauté the cloves, the remaining chilies, cinnamon and bay leaves for a minute.
- Stir in the onion and the ginger, garlic, green chilies and a few more curry leaves.
- Stir in the ground paste and sauté for two minutes.
- Add the mutton and continue sautéing for two minutes.
- Stir in the coriander and chili powder.
- Continue sautéing until the dish thickens.
- Take off the stove, put into a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve!
