Could this be the future of delivery for McDonald’s?

on

Let’s all admit the fact that food delivery has made our lives much easier to deal with. Nobody wants to stand in long lines or queue up at the drive-thru to order food anymore. Now how would it be if McDonald’s solves on-demand delivery with flying drones?

Imagine your food being delivered to you by a drone. As revolutionary as the idea may seem, will this really work? This is not a completely new idea. Many food start-ups and restaurant/fast-food chains today are taking into consideration that door-to-door delivery and drive-thru will soon become obsolete and are beginning to look for other ways to deliver their food. With the rapid advancements in technology and robotics, these are the two solutions they can turn to at present. Self driving robots are already being put to daily use to deliver packages in many countries like the UK, Switzerland and Germany now.

But how far is this stretching it? In the fast-food race, McDonald’s is keeping its game face on by constantly trying to use new and trendier methods to attract a major chunk of the millennial base. They can be a hard bunch to win over with advertising and it is a known fact that McDonald’s as a brand does not have a good reputation at the branding space with the critics, even though they come up with innovative stuff every now and then. Last year’s SXSW festival saw the brand struggling to make its presence felt in the hopes of winning over the crowd. Though they are still mulling over the introduction of drones, we think testing various forms of delivery automation can be a good start to the fast-food giant to keep up with the rivals.
