Grofers Adds E-Rickshaws to Its Delivery Fleet In Delhi-NCR
In an environment-friendly and enterprising move, leading Indian grocery delivery platform, Grofers, has started delivering orders via e-rickshaws in Delhi-NCR. This change in logistics is going to reduce delivery costs by 25 percent for the company, which recently raised INR 400 crore in fresh funding, reports India Retailing.
In addition to saving a major chunk of its delivery budget and bolstering the company’s delivery operations, the introduction of this eco-friendly logistics option will help Grofers cater to the growing influx of orders, the company said in a statement. “To keep pace with the quick adoption of online groceries in Delhi-NCR, we are strengthening our delivery operations. E-rickshaws are ideal for last-mile connectivity,” Albinder Shindsa, Co-founder and CEO, Grofers was quoted.
The company will initially test this new delivery option in South Delhi and then extend it to various other parts of the national capital region. Grofers added that over the next 3-4 months it would ramp up the number of e-rickshaws present in its fleet in the Capital to about 50.
