Italian Food Theme Park turns One

on

FICO Eataly World, the world’s largest Food Theme Park, started in November 2017, will turn one year old this month. Started by the founder Oscar Farinetti, it was developed by the Eataly Food Emporium, and has attracted visitors from all over the world, eager to see the world of Italian food they have collated.

Pellegrino Artusi, once a prosperous silk merchant, is credited with defining the contours of what is known as Italian cooking today, all over the world. His book, Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well, containing many of his own recipes, in addition to those he had gathered from friends and relatives, is seen as a heritage cookbook for Italians.

FICO Eataly World, has done for the food theme park what Pellegrino Artusi did for the Italian cookbook. Visitors interested in Italian cuisine can taste, buy and take classes for Italian food. The Park showcases the different pastas, breads, and cheeses that are specialties from different regions in Italy.

An Italian Experience

Forbes reports on the food theme park – ‘The light-filled, contemporary building is massive, holding some 45 eateries—including restaurants, trattorias and bistros and kiosks—whose offerings range from typical street foods to Michelin-starred meals. Open-air fields and livestock stables occupy five acres of the park. At the 40 factory exhibits inside, visitors can see how foods like cured meats, pastas, and cheeses are produced.’

The park provides an exhaustive experience of Italian food. Visitors can taste hot and freshly made food at the park, purchase food and get it mailed home, and attend special classes on making egg pasta, Sicilian cookies, sorbetto, licorice candy, to name a few.
