Are The Minions Really Cursing?

The minion movie is out and we just can’t help but fall in love with Kevin, Bob and Stuart. Right from their crazy habits and crazy ‘accidents’ to their swearing. Wait, what?! The minions don’t swear! Well, according to few parents they do.

What Are They Saying?

The Oak Brook, Illinois-based company has issued a statement saying the sounds the small yellow figures make are nonsense words, nothing offensive or profane.

The oblong yellow characters speak a gibberish language – called Minionese – speckled with the occasional English word or syllable. But some parents are posting YouTube videos of the little plastic toys yammering what they claim are obscenities. Some of the clips have gone viral, racking up a million views in a single day.

The Parents’ Version

“We’re aware of a very small number of customers who have been in touch regarding this toy, and we regret any confusion or offence to those who may have misinterpreted its sounds,” McDonald’s said in the statement. “The allegation that this toy is saying anything offensive or profane is not true.”

“Originally we didn’t think anything of it,” said one parent, identified only as Paul B on YouTube. But he said when his wife picked up the toy she heard something “that didn’t quite sound right.”
