Mumbai Enjoyed A Heady Sugar Rush At The Dessert Garden 3.0 Last Weekend!
Last weekend, some 10,000 people in Mumbai converged at High Street Phoenix in Lower Parel. That’s not an unusual event in itself; each weekend the popular mall sees a high footfall. What was unusual was that all these people were heading to the same place; the Third edition of Dessert Garden that had popped up in the mall’s expansive courtyard.
What is the Dessert Garden, you ask us? Why, exactly what is sounds like! For the past three years, the event, put together by Chrome Communications, displayed a plethora of dessert stalls from international brands like Haagen Dazs to home dessert brands like Bina’s Homemade Ice Cream.
The concept of a Dessert Garden was pioneered by Nikita Harisinghani, who wanted to create a food pop up experience purely for dessert aficionados that would provide a platform to home bakers and patisseries. “I personally love desserts myself and realized that Mumbai has a void of dessert properties. I found immense potential in the upcoming home bakers, hence came up with the concept of Mumbai’s first dessert pop up,” said Nikita.
And indeed, the crowds responded with a similar enthusiasm. The event was attended by a variety of big wigs in the food world, such as the team behind Foodholic and the Late Night Mumbai team who commented that “(the event was) brilliantly conceptualized and executed by Chrome Entertainment! The city totally needs more events like the Dessert Garden that adds to the new experiences that people can be a part of. We are really excited to see what the team comes up with next!” If words mean nothing to you, here are a few drool worthy photographs that will show you just how enthusiastic the crowd was:
Throughout the weekend, the crowd swarmed across the venue, living out all their sugary sweet fantasies. Popular stalls included gourmet Popsicle maker, Frugurpop, The Sinful Wish, a cupcake brand, ice cream lab, Nice Kream and Waffle House, which, true to its name is one of Mumbai’s favourite waffle destinations.
When they weren’t stuffing their faces, visitors at the Dessert Garden were lounging on and around the dessert themed installations and enjoying live music performed by artists like Max Godman and Ankur Tiwari.
For those of you who visited the Dessert Garden, you know why we’re nostalgically raphsodising. For those of you who didn’t, cheer up! As we mentioned earlier, the whole point of Dessert Garden was to bring unique dessert brands to Mumbai’s notice, so do some trolling on their Facebook and Instagram pages and find out what brands were there. Try out whatever sounds appealing to you and enjoy the same sugar rush we felt!
