Patanjali Ayurved Bags Third Position In Sales At Future Retail Stores
Yoga enthusiast Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda has kicked aside all inhibitions and prejudices about the FMCG brand by becoming the third largest selling label across all Future Retail stores.
Patanjali, which set foot in the market in 2006, started its association with Kishore Biyani’s retail group in October 2015. The brand is followed by big players like Dabur, Emami, GCPL, etc.
“Patanjali has become number three in sales at Future Retail’s stores. The number one is HUL followed by P&G and Patanjali is at number three at our place,” Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani told PTI. “Its (Patanjali) sales are growing every month. It would grow 20 per cent this month from the previous month”, he added.
Despite all the eyebrow-raising public comments by Baba Ramdev and certain quality hiccups, Patanjali Ayurved has been successful in carving a niche for itself in the market. And if not have become a regular household name everywhere, but it has definitely irked people to give its stuff a try. Which is saying something.
Meanwhile, Future Group is also planning to sell ayurvedic FMCG products of Sri Sri Ayurveda promoted by spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar off its racks. “We are also launching some products of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. It’s in process,” Biyani added.
This is the second big news that’s come out of the Future Group office this week. Earlier on, the retail mullah was making news for being in talks with Aditya Birla Retail over a merger or takeover; whilst expanding its foothold with the Nilgiri takeover.
