Prepare For Crunchy Bug Salad And Personalized Food Pills In The Future

on

Does the thought of creepy crawly bugs scare you off? Then this might sound scarier. According to food experts, humans taste for bugs might change and they will be one of the things we might be eating in the future. Bugs being consumed as a dish is already a common thing in many countries but just like kiwi not every one loves the idea of them.

According to Matt Golding, a professor at Massey University, globalization has led to easy access to exotic food like Kiwi. This fruit for some is still cringe-worthy, “the texture’s so far removed from other foods within our normal eating” says Golding. He also adds, “A lot of our familiar meals like spaghetti bolognaise will continue to be eaten, but we’re already seeing an explosion in choice.”

Same with bugs. “Once it becomes accepted it becomes mainstream very easily.” says Golding.

The professor adds that people will also be able to customize their own shopping basket in the future. The foods will have a longer shelf life, less production waste as well as come in use for personalized medical treatments. Here’s where the personalized food pills come into the picture that will provide us with the necessary and right amount of nutrition.

In such a scenario, manufacturers will look up to food trends on social media to see what people want. Compacting the nutritional needs into a pill still has technical difficulties. But even if achieved, will the people accept it, is a big question. I mean, will we not want to grab some sizzling hot fries? Or will we pop a pill?
