The Catcher In The Rye Swiss Cheese Sandwich Recipe
The Catcher In The Rye remains a classic coming of age novel even today. Written by JD Salinger, it explores teenage innocence, search for identity and the feeling of alienation many teenagers experience.
The protagonist, Holden Caulfield leaves his boarding school and heads to New York where he meets a variety of people.
The Swiss Cheese Sandwich
While food doesn’t appear to play a large part in Holden’s life there is one classic statement he makes:
“When I’m out somewhere, I generally just eat a Swiss cheese sandwich and a malted milk,” he reveals.
If you feel like re-reading The Catcher In the Rye, make a Swiss cheese sandwich to eat while you read to give you a more authentic experience. Or, have this sandwich for a light lunch with a side of malted milk.
