Chocolate-Mint Hearts recipe
Planning on giving your Valentine chocolates this Valentine’s Day? Why not go one step further and make your own? These heart shaped cookies will earn you a wagon load of brownie points; we guarantee it!
Once made, you can place these cookies in a gift box or bag and send them to your Valentine.

Ingredients
- 10 ounces mint chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup butter soften
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups all purposed flour
- 3/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 tsp Salt

Instructions
- Melt half a cup of the chocolate chips in a microwave.
- Whip the butter and sugar and then add the egg, vanilla and melted chocolate to this mixture.
- Whisk well.
- Mix the flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda together.
- Gently stir the flour mixture into the butter, chocolate and sugar mixture.
- Once well combined, place this mixture in a fridge.
- Allow the dough to cool for 2 hours.
- While the dough cools, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Dust a flat surface with flour and roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut hearts out of the dough.
- Place the heart cookies onto greased paper and bake the cookies for 7-10 minutes.
- Take the cookies out and allow them to cool.
- Melt the shortening and leftover chocolate chips in a microwave.
- Dip half of each cookies into the melted mixture and put them on waxing paper.
- Place them in the fridge until the chocolate sets.
- Your cookies are ready!
