South Korea Unveils An Ice Cream Hangover Cure

Reuters reported that a convenience store chain in South Korea has launched the Gyeondyo-bar which translates to ‘hang in there’ and according to the company, is the first ice cream bar marketed specifically to deal with a hangover.

This ice cream bar hit shelves on Friday.

Drinking is big business in South Korea and in line with that, so are hangover cures. Apparently these hangover cures generates roughly 150 billion won (which is $126 million) in annual sales, which includes pills and beverages and cosmetics for women. There’s also a ‘hangover soup’, which is popular on most Korean restaurant menus.

 According to The Washington Post, the ice cream bars contain oriental raisin tree fruit extract and grapefruit flavor. The raising tree fruit is a traditional hangover cure that dates back to the 17th century.
