Watch US President Obama Feast On A Bear’s Discarded Salmon
We’re sure that the President of the United States is no stranger to salmon delicacies like smoked salmon and salmon mousse. However, on a recent trip to Alaska in which he filmed an episode of ‘Running Wild with Bear Grylls’, he was treated to a different preparation of the fish; a slab of fresh salmon from a nearby river…that had been half eaten by a bear. The wild kind.

President Obama was filming with survival expert Bear Grylls on his three day visit to Alaska to bring to attention the impact of climate change in Alaska. ‘Running Wild with Bear Grylls’ is a show in which Grylls takes celebrities on a two day adventures in the wild. Previous celebrities that have been a part of the show are Kate Winslet, Kate Hudson, Zac Effron and Channing Tatum.
President Obama hadn’t come on the trip totally uniformed, revealing that he knew the kinds of food the Grylls had given participants in the past. “I’ve seen some of the stuff Bear eats, and it’s gotta be something that doesn’t still have its legs and eyes on it. I want it not to be too recognizable,” said Obama before he was presented with the fish.

When Grylls pulls out the fish, wrapped in a pile of moss and mud, the President is visibly taken aback. However, he’s sporting about it, joking after eating it that it would’ve tasted nicer with a cracker. We’re also treated to a little bit of knowledge about the ways of the wild, with Grylls explaining that bears often just eat the fatty parts of the fish, discarding the rest.
We don’t want to give too much of the game away. Without further ado, here’s the President of the United States eat a bear’s leftover salmon. Now there’s a sentence we never thought we’d say.
