Yam Patties Recipe
Yams, often referred to as sweet potato in the US of A and Canada, are part of an edible tuber family called Dioscoreaceae. But thankfully one does not have to give out this lengthy description to buy sweet potatoes. So for ease of pronunciation and procurement’s sake lets just synonymize yams with sweet potato.
Patties, as is common knowledge, are round flattened portion of ground meat or vegetable. Yam patties are a popular holiday dish and this recipe can be followed to fry up some delicious crispy golden-brown helpings of the same.

Ingredients
- 1 pack frozen yam patties
- 1 stick butter
- cup ½brown sugar
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 cup pecans

Instructions
- In a nonstick skillet melt butter on medium heat.
- Add patties and sprinkle tops with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- When patties start to sizzle, turn them over and sprinkle other side.
- Let patties cook on each side until a nice crispy crust forms, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
