6 Egg Substitutes for Baking that will Egg-cite you

on

What Egg-xactly is the Problem?

Know those days when you’ve found the perfect, fluffy muffin recipe. You’ve grabbed a bowl, gone with the instinct and beaten up that butter and sugar and you’re moving towards the egg basket. You’re butter’s quickly melting, you’d better hurry up!

All that sits in front of you is an empty egg basket, melting butter-sugar goo and an accusing recipe. The recipe did, of course, ask you to get all those ingredients lined up before you start.

You take that butter, dump it in a box and push it into the fridge. But wait, you’re forgetting the list. Why, we’re talking about the list of Super Egg Replacements. Now you can have your cake and eat it.

1. Apple Sauce

Awesome Sauce. Rightly said. 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce in the place of one egg. Mix it with 1/2 teaspoon baking powder if you feel your cake may turn a little flat.

2. Banana

1/4 cup mashed banana in place of one egg. Banana lends itself to super moist cakes and makes them so.

3. Flax Seeds

Yup, you read right. Mix one tablespoon of ground flax seeds with 3 tablespoons water until fully blended. Use in place of one egg.

5. Water, oil and Baking Powder

Mix two tablespoons water, one teaspoon oil (vegetable oil) and two teaspoons baking powder in place of one egg. Works like a charm!

6. Vegetable Oil

1/4 cup vegetable oil in place of one egg and nothing more- unless you want really greasy cakes. If the recipe already asks for vegetable oil, then try another substitute.
