Ingredients
- 200 g all purpose flour (1 3/4 cup minus 1 tablespoon)
- 150 g (3/4 cup) granulated sugar
- 200 ml (3/4 cup + 1 1/2 tablespoons) cooking cream or light cream
- 2 eggs
- 16 g (4 teaspoons) baking powder
- 4 tablespoon vegetable oil I used sunflower oil
- 2 Golden Delicious apples
- cinnamon
- butter granulated
- sugar powder sugar (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180° C (350 degrees F). Butter and flour a 22 cm ( 9-inch) pan and set aside.
- Peel, core and cut the apples into thin slices. Place in a large mixing bowl and toss with lemon juice to avoid discoloration. Set aside.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Add the oil, half of the cream, flour, baking powder, and mix well.
- Add the remaining cream and mix again.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan.
- Arrange the apples slices over the top of the batter in a circular pattern.
- Sprinkle the apple slices with sugar, cinnamon and dot with bits of butter here and there.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown and a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.
- Cool before removing from the pan and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
