Have You Met The Surreal Raindrop Cake?

Some are calling it water jelly, an edible raindrop, a dessert craze and so much more. In realty, the much hyped raindrop cake is one word – surreal. Ok yes, jelly made of water is taking food trends to a whole crazy extent, but have you seen the marvelous dessert?

What Is It?

For those of you who haven’t yet understood a word, here’s the thing – Japan introduced a zero-calorie, water drop-like gelatinous ‘cake’ and called it the mizu shingen mocha a.k.a. The dessert has now made its way to the U.S. via New York, where it has become a dessert craze, almost attaining cronut status. And that’s saying a lot.

Although, tons of people aren’t too impressed by the concept, the makers would rather concentrate on the long line of people waiting to purchase and gobble the $8 dessert served with roasted soybean flour and sugar syrup. The dessert even has its own Instagram page! Check it out here.
