Alcohol tastes bad? Blame it on your genes
New research shows that people who don’t like the taste of alcohol could blame their genes. How does this work?
Simply put, there are two versions of genes in this regard. One version finds alcohol bitter tasting while the other group doesn’t.
Those with Version Two genes may be inclined to drink more of it, study says. This could also be the reason some people are more averse to bitter vegetables like kale.
“The reason this work is significant is because it fills in this gap, because no one had shown in the lab that the alcohol actually tastes differently depending on which [version of the gene] you have.”- says John Hayes, who conducted the study.
