The BFG Snozzcumber Recipe

To celebrate the release of a film adaptation of the BFG, directed by Stephen Spielberg, celebrities have been roped in to create a giant trail of Dream Jars. In The BFG, dream jars were used to capture good dreams and nightmares, which the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) would later release into children’s rooms. As a promotion for the film and a celebration of one of Roald Dahl’s best works, celebrities like Maise Williams and Steven Spielberg have recreated some of their favourite dreams in jars. After August 31^st, these jars will be auctioned for charity.

Food In The BFG

True, most of The BFG is about dreams. But, it’s also about how Sophie, a little girl carried off by the BFG, and the BFG himself try to meet the queen to stop other giants kidnapping children from their beds and eating them.

Instead of eating little children, the BFG sustains himself on snozzcumbers and Frobscottle. While Frobscottle is a delightfully bubbly drink – find the recipe here – the BFG detests snozzcumbers; Sophie described the taste of one as frog skins and rotten fish.

That’s because she’s never tasted our Snozzcumbers. With this recipe, you’ll be calling for more and more snozzcumbers; pair them with some frobscottle as you enjoy watching The BFG.

• 6 cucumbers
• 1/2 cup bean sprouts
• 2 tbsp Ranch Dressing
• 1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce
• Juice of one lime

Instructions

1. Cut the cucumbers in half and scoop out the pulp.
2. Whisk the lime juice, tabasco sauce and ranch dressing together.
3. Combine the bean sprouts and cucumber pulp with the dressing.
4. Stuff this mixture back into the cucumbers.
5. Serve and enjoy.
