Casablanca French 75 Cocktail Recipe
There are some classics we can never get enough of, be it classic films or classic cocktails. One classic movie that we can re-watch numerous times is Casablanca, a 1942 romantic drama film. While the film, mimicking the lifestyle of the times, features several scenes in bars where the characters are drinking their troubles away, one cocktail that sticks with us from the film is the French 75.
The French 75
The French 75 is an 19th century drink that combines gin, a sugar syrup, lemon juice and champagne in a champagne flute to make an elegant drink with a kick. In the film, Yvonne orders a French 75 when you arrives at a bar with the German officer; a scene that has stuck in many a memory.
If you want to channel the elegance of the scene and lose yourself in the fascinating black and white world of Casablanca, make yourself this cocktail. Have it as a drink before dinner, or along with a light lunch.
