Greggs Is In Hot Water After Replacing Baby Jesus With A Sausage Roll In A Nativity Scene

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means it is now officially the Christmas season, so basically decorations, candy canes and gingerbread all round. However, it’s not all happy things and good thoughts as British Bakery chain, Greggs, seems to have waded into controversy over an advertisement that they ran.

In the ad, a nativity scene shows the three wise men standing around a sausage roll instead of baby Jesus. “We’re really sorry to have caused any offence, this was never our intention,” the store told The Northern Echo. It was meant to promote Greggs first “Merry Greggsmas” advent calendar, which has coupons, food vouchers, and gift cards for each day throughout December.

However, this has caused outrage, with people demanding that Greggs be boycotted.

Luckily, some people did also see the humorous side of things.
