Chennai Jackfruit Festival aims to re-introduce Jackfruit to the city. The event serves over 90 food products made of jackfruit. Some of the dishes available at the festival are handpicked from traditional South Indian recipes such as chakka varatti, kumbil appam and from cusines across the world such as Mexican and Spanish.
The festival also holds a signature buffet of 25 jackfruit dishes. The event is happening on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd, giving opportunity for fruit lovers to take advantage of the long weekend. The Festival is also organizing various competitions such as for photography and cookery. The venue is Chennai Trade Centre located close to St. Thomas Mount. Mr Saju Thomas, the head of the food team at the festival says, ‘The main focus of the event is to showcase the variety of food prepared or processed using Jackfruit which is very novice to the urban population of Chennai City’.
