How to Make Pumpkin Cakes
Not all of us loved to eat pumpkin when it was on the plate for dinner, and you were told to eat your vegetables.
And the problem was that they came in such a large variety of shapes and types, that there was pumpkin in some meal or the other, most of the time.
That is why pumpkin was cleverly disguised in this delicacy by resourceful mothers and grandmothers. And that is also why we love pumpkin cakes so much.
Recipe
Here is the quick and easy recipe to get you started with delicious pumpkin treat.
Wet Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- A half teaspoon of salt
- Half teaspoon of cloves that are grounded
- A half teaspoon ground cinnamon
- One-quarter teaspoon of grounded nutmeg
- A half-cup of vegetable oil
- 1 full cup of pumpkin puree
- 1 half teaspoon of vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
- 1 and a half cup of flour
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Method
Starting with the wet ingredients, put it all one by one in a mixing bowl and mix at slow speed and mix it in well. When all the wet ingredients are mixed together, put it aside to set for a few minutes while you work on the dry ingredients.
Now you can mix all the dry ingredients together slowly in a separate mixing bowl, and then you add it to the wet ingredients. Just remember to add it slowly and a little bit at a time and fold it into the wet ingredients.
Now you may put it all in a 12 x 18-inch pan and preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Before you put it in the oven, bump it on the palm of your hand to get most of the air out of it.
Bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 50 to 55 minutes or until the testing pin comes out dry. These, as you can see, are only the basic ingredients of this particular recipe to make a pumpkin cake from scratch.
