Harry Potter Mint Humbugs Recipe

on

After watching Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them last weekend, we’ve been devouring the series of Harry Potter books again and enjoying some serious nostalgia. Reading through them, we’re astounded at just how many food references there are in the books from magical treats like Bertie’s Every Flavour Beans, Cauldron cakes and Chocolate Frogs  to the Knickerbocker Glory which Harry got to finish after Dudley turned his nose up at it.

We’ve already shared quite a few recipes inspired by Harry Potter, but, as JK Rowling has proved we can never get enough of the wizarding world.

The First Feast In The Great Hall

great

Today, we turn our attention to the first Feast Harry has at Hogwarts, just after getting sorted into Gryffindor:

“Harry’s mouth fell open The dishes in front of him were now piled with food. He had never seen so many things he liked to eat on one table: roast beef, roast chicken, pork chops and lamp chops, sausages, bacon and steak, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, chops, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, gravy, ketchup and, for some strange reason, mint humbugs.

Sound delicious, does it not? We thought we’d share a recipe for homemade mint humbugs which are peppermint flavoured Muggle candies that Hagrid seemed to have an affinity for.

Have these as a treat while you’re re-reading the Harry Potter books.
