Japanese Cocktail
Don’t let the name fool you, because this cocktail is made primarily with French ingredients. This cognac-based cocktail with its nutty profile was included in Jerry Thomas’ Bar-Tender’s Guide in 1862.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces Cognac
- 1/2 ounce orgeat
- 3 dashes angostura bitters
- Lemon peel for garnish

Instructions
- Fill a mixing glass half full with ice. Add cognac, orgeat, and bitters. Stir well.
- Strain into chilled cocktail glass and twist lemon peel over the drink and drop in as a garnish.
