Sinking Our Teeth Into Delish Parsi Food At Bombay Coffee House
There are three outlets of Bombay Coffee House in Mumbai and out of them the one at Ballard Estate is the one we prefer to go at. One reason for that is the quiet bylanes of the area and of course the magnificent structures all around. Another reason would be the extended menu that features delicacies from the Parsi cuisine. So if you come here and feel a little peckish, you must order something from this special section of the menu.
It’s Time For Dhansak
Chef Onkar, who heads the kitchen with his ace cooking skills has nailed the Parsi cuisine as well. We tried almost everything and found that the food is lip smacking delicious. For those looking for an evening snack with their coffee can go for either the Mutton Cutless or the Murgh Na Farcha both of which are served with mayonnaise. The cutless or the farcha weren’t at all greasy and the farcha was juicy, crisp and really well made.
One can also relish the Salli Murgh, Kid Gosht or the Mutton Keema with the soft pavs at the Bombay Coffee House. The murgh was something we really liked with its spot on flavour and the crunch from the potato salli, a classic. The Kid Gosht however was our favourite with its robust flavours and creamy texture. The keema, again, a classic in Irani cafes was cooked very well and we’d come back just for this with some pav to end with a hot cup of chai of course.
Though full, we kept some room for yet another classic, Mutton Dhansak with Brown Rice. The dish was quite tasty and the rice went beautifully with it. We ended our meal with a soft-to-cut-into, Lagan Nu Custard. This dessert is something one shouldn’t miss especially those visiting the city. At the close of our lavish meal at the Bombay Coffee House we felt quite at home, satiated and there are definitely several re-visits in the near future.
