Stephen Colbert Focuses On Real Issues, Beating Starbucks At Misspelling
Recently on the Late Show, host Stephen Colbert took up the global issue of how Starbucks fails to get names right on the coffee cup. It’s not the baristas’ fault really. It is difficult to tell ‘Paul’ apart from ‘Pawl’; ‘Aaron’ apart from ‘Aron’ and ‘Air Inn’. We should cut them a little slack!
Anywho, the Late Show discussion stemmed from the coffee magnate’s attempt to fix the spelling problem by launching an app that allows customers to pre-order their drink and give the spelling madness a skip. Subsequently, The Wall Street Journal went around asking customers what and how they felt about the app. And funnily enough, some of them actually miss getting their name misspelt!
Colbert took a dig at all the hilarious customer reviews and Starbucks even. He said and I quote, “Starbucks’ greatest strength has always been being bad at names. This is the company that named their shortest drink… tall.”
Ouch.
Watch how Colbert went on to throw some spotlight on real global issues at hand in a true Starbucks-y way – with wrong spellings, of course!
