Tata Global Beverages Partners With Smile Train To Raise Awareness About Cleft Lips

Multinational Indian beverage company, Tata Global Beverages along with Tata Trusts have contributed $1 million to Smile Train, an international children’s charity which raises awareness and support for cleft lips, palate repairs and cleft care.

Helping Along The Smile Train

Over 170,000 children in developing countries are born with cleft lips or palates each year. Since there is a lack of awareness about the situation, and many families cannot afford to treat the children who are born with it, most of these children face social isolation.

Smile Train aims to provide training, funding and resources to doctors and medical facilities to preform free clef repair surgeries.

The Tata Global Beverages MD and CEO Ajoy Misra said: “Through this partnership, we hope to positively impact many thousands of children and bring alive Tata Global Beverages’ ethos of giving back to community.”

Tata Global Beverage brands include Tata Tea, Tetley, Kanan Devan, Chakra Gold, and Gemini, which include products like instant tea, iced tea and coffee.

As a part of its collaboration with Smile Train, Tetley will run a digital campaign called the ‘Tetley Smile Challenge’ across the UK, Australia, Canada and the US to raises awareness about Smile Train.

In India, the brand will use its ‘Gaon Chalo’ campaign to spread awareness to rural areas.

Other Social Initiatives

Tata Global Beverages has always displayed a commitment to empowering communities. The company’s Jaago Re! Campaign, got instance focusses on opposing corruption and has a website which encourages discussion on social issues. It has also offered scholarships to several students who had to write an essay on a ‘magical beverage moment’.
