Why Aren’t Christians Too Happy With Starbucks’ New Winter Cups?
You know it’s time to ditch the frappuccinos for lattes when Starbucks brings out its holiday colored (read, happy crimson) cups.
Sinimalism
This year the coffee magnate gave their cups a new look by going minimal and rolling out simple crimson cups and, unlike other years, not adorning it with snowflakes and winter symbols. Some appreciated the cups for being “in trend” while a group of Christian evangelicals have deemed the design boycott-worthy.
In a statement to Jezebel, Starbucks’ vice president of design and content Jeffrey Fields said, ““In the past, we have told stories with our holiday cups designs.
“This year we wanted to usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories”, he added.
Not Too Merry About It
A bunch of Christian customers have taken this change in design as a “war on Christianity” because the brand no longer promotes Christmas. They have in turn decided to boycott the brand as a whole. Or trick them like this man did right here.
Starbucks REMOVED CHRISTMAS from their cups because they hate Jesus … SO I PRANKED THEM … and they HATE IT!!!! #shareUse #MERRYCHRISTMASSTARBUCKSFollow –> Joshua Feuerstein

But those who are in support of this change and don’t really mind plain cups are pointing out the fact that Starbucks is still promoting Christmas blends amongst other flavors. And shouldn’t that be reason enough to understand that they too love Jesus (and Santa)?
