5 things about Avocados that you didn’t know
Something about even saying “Avocado” feels healthy. We’ve taken the time to handpick some facts about the famous “Avocado” and serve them up ripe!
1. The Butter Fruit
Most parts of the world still refer to the avocado as a ‘butter fruit’ because of its texture. In most vegan recipes, butter is substituted with the ‘butter’ from a ripe avocado.
2. Seriously, super-healthy
Avocados are really good for you. The fat from the avocado is easier digested than animal fat. They are also high in protein.
3. The ripe test
The best way to tell if an avocado is ripe is to hold it in the palm of your hand and gently squeeze it or to press it very carefully near the stem tip. If it gives in, it’s ripe. If not, put that baby away and give it some space.
4. Ripen Easy
Store an avocado in room temperature in a paper bag with an apple of banana to ripen it.
5. Hass Avocado
Hass Avocado is of the same family that accounts for over 80% of avocado cultivation in the world. Butter Up!
