9 Caramel Desserts To Keep You Drooling All Weekend

on

Caramel is a special kind of ingredient. Not everyone loves it, not everyone knows how to eat it and more than that, not everyone knows how to make it. Keep it on the fire for too long and it’ll burn, don’t melt it enough and it’ll get crystalised, it’s a constant battle. But one thing is for certain, it tastes good with almost everything. Whether it’s drizzled on top of your ice cream or your breakfast, or if it’s the main ingredient in your dessert for the day, caramel has a big and delicious role to play.

And to help you deal with the fact that Monday follows this glorious weekend (sorry to bring it up already, but we needed to warn you!), here are some delicious desserts that have caramel or salted caramel as a base, a layer or an important ingredient. For those that are wondering, salted caramel is caramel with salt, so that it reduces the sweetness of caramel. Caramel is basically a thick syrupy product made with melted sugars, add some salt to balance the sweet out with a little bit of a kick and you have yourself a delicious spoon of salted caramel.

So, are you ready for this list? Because as the heading says, it’s going to make you drool all weekend.

Like making regular oatmeal cookies, but with caramel. The last step before you stick them in the oven requires a little folding of caramel into the cookie mixture. Then spoon up little bits and place it on a tray and bake it. Ding!

Millionaire Shortbread Bars

Not too long ago, we made this dessert. We substituted shortbread cookies with regular digestive biscuits, but the recipe still works. So check it out and make your own version at home.

Snickers Fudge

caramel7

You’ve heard of Snickers, the chocolate bar? You can make your very own bar at home, but make it fudgier and add as much caramel as you want. Each layer is made and frozen one at a time and then when you finally add the last layer of caramel, you have yourself a winner. Freeze and enjoy!
