The One Thing You Shouldn’t Do After Drinking Wine
Wine lovers are quick to tell you the many benefits of drinking a glass (yes, just one) of wine a day. However, wine could be affecting your dental health in a way you could have never imagined. So, here’s the one thing that you should never do after drinking wine. Brushing your teeth after drinking wine is a serious no-no.
And the problem isn’t just limited to staining one’s teeth. Brushing your teeth after drinking wine can lead to potential erosion of your tooth enamel. This is due to the fact that both white and red wine are extremely acidic, hence it’s important to wait at least an hour before brushing your teeth.
A study about the relationship between wine and enamel damage published in the Nutrition Research journal offers up additional scientific proof. The study’s abstract reads, “It was demonstrated that white wines have higher erosive potentials than red wines. Within the limits of this study, it can be predicted that a frequent consumption of white wines might lead to severe dental erosion.” Yikes!
If you don’t want to suffer from a premature loss of your tooth enamel, then we suggest waiting before reaching for that toothbrush after drinking wine. We know that wine stains on your teeth can be tempting to brush away, however, it’s better to have a few wine stains rather than a trip to the dentist, am I right?
