McDonald’s Wants To Sell Just “Muffin Tops”And Seinfeld Fans Are Screaming
ICYMI, McDonald’s has been selling breakfast for a while, and it seems like there is a market for it (except when you reach 1 minute past breakfast time, just give me my McMuffin Ellen, dammit). However, it looks like McDonald’s shrinking market share has been blamed on lost breakfast customers (see parentheses above) and they’ve got a few ideas to win them back.
“We took our eye off the ball on breakfast,” Chief Financial Officer Kevin Ozan said at a May investor conference. “With everything else going on, we just lost a little focus on that breakfast day part.”
According to Bloomberg, McDonald’s are planning on providing discounts, breakfast catering, as well as muffin tops. In move literally taken straight out of a sitcom, McDonald’s is planning on using Elaine’s idea from the Seinfield episode titled “The Muffin Tops” and selling only the muffin tops (arguably the best part of a muffin).
Of course, it didn’t take long for Twitter to get in on the news.
