Mondelez International Plans To Open Research, Development and Quality Hub in Maharashtra
Global FMCG company, Mondelez International is planning to invest Rs.100 crore to build a research, development and quality hub in Maharashtra. This is part of a global strategy to create Research, Development and Quality hubs in prime locations across the world.

Commenting on the hub, which will be in Thane, Deepak Iyer , the Managing Director of Mondelez India Foods said “With a focus on chocolate and beverages, this centre will combine the high-end skills of our local team with global learnings and best practises to develop products and processes for Mondelez International globally.”
“This is another milestone in our company’s continued commitment to invest, make and innovate in India as we create technical and scientific jobs as well as bring in cutting edge technology to support our global business,” Iyer added.
Mondelez expects to start construction on the site in December and for it to be operational by mid-2018.
It will employ a staff of 150 which will include scientists and engineers who will work to develop technology platforms for chocolates and beverages, to understand consumer science as well as improve packaging.
Commenting on the global plan for the hubs, Rob Hargrove, the Mondelez International Executive Vice President of Research, Development and Quality said “These hubs will enable improved efficiency, effectiveness and accelerated project delivery, while the increased scale across key markets will provide rapid access to changing consumer needs and trends.”
Along with the Thane location, there will be two more technical centers in Asia; one in Singapore and one in China.
